Middlesex County Farm-Based Education Network
On October 18, 2008, nearly twenty representatives from 12 Middlesex County, MA farms and farm-based education programs met to discuss the possibility of a regional network of farm-based educators. The meeting took place at the Noah Brooks Tavern in the Minute Man National Historical Park in Lincoln, MA and was facilitated by Meg Coward, current Vice-President of the Board of The Food Project, former Executive Director of the Waltham Fields Community Farm, and a former staff member of The Farm School.
Attendees decided to pursue the development of a regional network of farm-based education programs and professionals. A planning meeting has been planned for February 2009, date and location TBD. Grey Lee from Land's Sake, Mark Walter from Waltham Fields Community Farm, and Verena Wieloch from Gaining Ground will lead the group to the next step. If you would like to receive information about this emerging network, please e-mail info[at]farmbasededucation[dot]org.
